Ceiling light transformer problems

Some transformers seem more reliable than others and it may be that they are running too hot, first floor lamps tend to have transformers in a relatively well ventilated attic as opposed to ground floor ones which often get stuffed between floor and ceiling. The transformer will probably have been poked up into the ceiling through one of the holes. There is a chance it will have been done in a way that makes it easy to access. Make sure these fittings have a good air gap in the ceiling void. Remove any insulation that is close by.
